Waldo Road Tip
NewsFor various reasons the Residents meetings with Veolia, Bromley Council and the local residents living around the Waldo Road / Baths Road sites have ceased. However dialogue between the parties still goes on via email so if you do want to raise any concerns regarding the site, either good or bad, please email by clicking here this will ensure all the relevant people are copied into the correspondence.
Did you know you no longer need to sort your recycling into seperate sections in your recycling bin. So glass, cans and plastics can now be all together - the only exception is paper which still needs to be in its own box. This is a great help and due to the new sorting facilities used by Veolia. The queues at Waldo Road are often publicised and anyone who has been to the site on a weekend will know that queues are an inevitable part of going to Waldo Road Tip, however please do try Churchfields Road tip in Beckenham instead of Waldo Road as the queues are generally smaller and the site takes the majority of household waste. July 07 - Bromley council have added webcams along Waldo Road to allow residents to view the queue before they set off - please use this to cut your journey time. July 07
- minutes of the June 07 residents meeting have been posted - see left
hand links 240407 - News article in Bromley Extra this week mentions a site in Orpington that has been ordered to cease trading for breaking the rules and posing a threat to the environment. It was caught storing more waste than its licence allows and prevent the amount of dust spreading to nearby residents and the area. The Environment Agency are quoted as saying "When companies break the rules of a waste management licence we have to take action to protect the environment and the public." This is the current Waldo Road Waste Disposal Licence that the Environment Agency drew up in 1991. If you think that Veolia are in any way not adhering to this licence, which they are legally bound to do, then please send an email address to these people John Woodruff (Bromley's Head of Waste services), Russ Snashall (Environment Agency officer regulating this site) and John Battison (Veolia's Regional Manager) Good news: Following the residents meetings with Veolia (Onyx's new name) they have finally put up a new barrier along the top of the boundary wall to improve the view and help block noise and dust. It is a start but it would have been better if Veolia had checked the height, as it would be better to be taller and obviously longer. However Veolia have said they are testing it over a short length to see effectiveness before extending it along the whole length of the wall.
Oh look... its Sunday... lets have a fire at the tip...

The environment Agency admit the existing licences for Waldo Road are "very much out of date" and "in need of major modification" yet they do not do anything to ensure they are brought up to date and the site is allowed to continue Waste
