Onyx, Bromley Council and the Environment Agency invited several local residents to the second of the quarterly residents meetings for 2008. It was a chance for all parties to discuss issues with the site and get an update on the actions on Veolia and Bromley Council had from the previous meeting.

Attendees John Woodruff LBB There is a possibility of more extra spaces and more containers at peak times Satellite sites highly used in good weather Carlyle Avenue boundary wall should go up within June Deodoriser could be making smell worse by wetting waste. Going to trial not putting them on. They will be used when loading waste then turned off to see if this improves the bad odour situation. It was proposed to move all green waste and other smelly rubbish under cover by end of day. This could mean working for up to one hour after site closes as it takes 15minutes to empty one container via weighbridge. A trial period of 3 months was suggested. Residents were keen to stress that this should not lead to any form of longer opening hours of the site thus leading to more noise and smell. Veolia want to eliminate reversing alarms completely and are working towards this New bird culling contractor started in March. No difference noticed by residents. Air quality monitoring was mentioned. There is nothing in place to pick up smell. Car emissions not currently monitored. NA /JW to progress but they did not think that it is over legal limits. RS re-iterated again that all complaints to EA via 0800 807060 are investigated. Date of next meeting, around beginning of September, to be decided.
